Architectural Committee

Owen Brown Estates is a deed-restricted community and a committee was formed in 2005 to study the deed and to possibly remind the residents of its existence. Its members are:

    Jacques L' Heureux
    Gus Gribbin (Chairman)
    Frankie Merrick
    Susanne Salsbury
    Jean Thiebaux

Meeting Minutes

The Committee met on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. The meeting lasted one hour.

Present:
      Renee Scruggs
      Jacques L' Heureux
      Gus Gribbin (Chairman)
      Excused: Jean Thiebaux
      Absent: Frankie Merrick, Susanne Salsbury

The committee members agreed that those present must and will represent a quorum and proceeded to take the following steps.

The committee agreed to:

    • Function as promoters of the covenant and community upkeep rather than bullying enforcers. That said the committee is aware of its role under the covenant to respond when breaches of the covenant occur. The committee will strive to open and keep open lines of communication with the Owen Brown Estates residents.
    • Meet twice yearly and any other time at the request of any member.
    • Table the question regarding length of terms for the volunteer members. It was considered unrealistic for the young committee to consider the topic now, considering the difficulty of finding volunteers and of accomplishing the needed community vote.
    • Have the chairman send letters to those committee members who have not responded to email or phone messages, inquiring whether they wish to continue as committee volunteers.
    • Have the chairman prepare a friendly letter to the householders of Owen Brown Estates, reminding them of the existence of the committee, informing them of the names of committee members, urging them to communicate with the committee via the Owen Brown Estates Mailing List and Website and asking them to phone the chairman if they lack a copy of the covenant. The letter also would report on the successful action of the committee in having the Department of Parks and Recreation limit the use of the Llanfair green space. The letter will explain how the green space may be utilized.
    • Defer a decision regarding how to fill committee vacancies.

Respectfully submitted:

Gus Gribbin
Chairman
